Wow! What a Great Day at Camp!

It is Thursday morning around 6:30 am.  I literally don’t see one person outside yet.  Breakfast starts in 30 minutes and usually there is lots of activity beginning.  I believe they are out there getting a little more sleep due to the amazing day FULL of learning and fun we had yesterday.  There was so much to learn from our speaker as he helped us to understand more fully the realities of the gospel and how it impacts us,  What an honor to be chosen to be part of the family of God!  There is nothing we can do to earn a place in His Kingdom but because He loved us so much – even in our sinful state – He gave Christ as a sacrifice for us!  Christ took on what we deserved by dying in our place on the cross so that we could have not a religion but a relationship with Him!  Now as we move forward the kids are going to learn what that means for them in terms of why God designed us, what He designed us for – I’ll give you a hint but I’ll try to unpack it later but it is where we got the theme for the week – Masterpiece!

Yes we learned a lot and family groups are breaking down the message even deeper – helping the kids to apply the message to their lives and ask questions that they really want to know about.  Wow!

But there is more – not only did we learn a lot but we had tons of fun yesterday!  The first bit of fun started in recreation with the high schoolers playing a major game of the Big Fris – it is a frisbee game that is crazy and chaotic but way fun!  The middle schoolers had an equally awesome time of relays – family group against family group. Today they switch.

Then lunch and then the students went to topical seminars.  These included topics like: relationships, Is Christ the only way?, Leadership etc.  These were led by some of our counselors but also many of our pastors came down for yesterday and today to lead these seminars and have fun with the students!

After seminars came the big challenge.  At camp this week are 6 members of a soccer team that won the State Cup for their age group this year.  Steve Wright, one of the pastors, challenged the girls to a soccer game.  He was allowed to assemble a team and the girls picked up two players.  Just ask Mr. Wright the outcome.

Then off to free time, dinner, worship, family time and then a crazy tradition at camp – skit night!  Much fun and laughter was had  as each family group presented a skit.  As this was finishing the rain came again and after grabbing a quick snack the students hurried back to their dorms.  Whew!

Some pictures are added above from the days activities. I am having an issue with my photos from the skits.  Will try to fix it and upload them later.  Sorry.  Enjoy the others!

Now it is a new day – still don’t see any activity….enjoy the many pictures from yesterday!

Impact@Home Tuesday Prayer Meeting

Last night we met at the home of David and Mary New for wonderful prayer time.  We had a small group, but we spent ample time in prayer and sharing encouraging words!

David New shared scripture from 3 John 1 with the group last night…”Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.  For I rejoiced greatly when your brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.  I have no greater JOY than to hear that my children walk in truth.”   The last verse was one of our strongest prayers last night echoed among all gathered…that the youth would walk in truth.  Not only at camp, but in their home, school, workplace, extracurricular activities, etc.

We are coming boldly before Christ, making requests known to Him and praising Him for His goodness over all of those at camp!

Calm after the storm

Yesterday was a wonderful day – very hot!  The kids had breakfast and then went to worship and teaching time with our speaker, Pete Rochelle.  We learned more out of Ephesians 2:1-5 this time, talking about what our condition was before Christ redeemed us.  Then off to family groups for deeper discussions with their peers.  After family group came scenarios and a fun exercise of designing marshmallow guns and shooting them to make a group masterpiece.  You must ask your student how that works.  Then came lunch, and then recreational seminars.  These include paintball, ski lessons, soccer, ultimate frisbee, flag football etc.  Free time came after that – then dinner.  After dinner came a great session of worship and another time with our speaker.  Just as this ended a storm rolled in.  The kids had enough time to get to their dorms for family group but the luao had to be cancelled because of the thunder and lightening and rain!

Now it is before breakfast on Wednesday morning and it is a new day!  We are so excited about the students learning and growing more today as well as all the fun that is to be had today and tonight at skit night!
